The Home to Thousands of Animals
The Philadelphia Zoo was opened in Pennsylvania on July 1, 1874, as the first zoo in the United States. It is a perfect way to enjoy a cool summer day with your family and bring your children to see many animals and educate them to protect some of the rare and endangered species.
The zoo is one of the premier zoos in the world for breeding animals that have been found difficult to breed in captivity. One of the things to do here is visit The Rare Animal Conservation Center that has become the home of the only two Red-Shanked Doucs on the Western Hemisphere.
