This area of New York has been home to some wellknown celebrities, such as Francis Ford Coppola and Paul Simon. Since the mid-1940’s, Queens has successfully developed the African American culture, with the Afrikan and the Black Spectrum Theaters.  

This fascinating area is known to be an important jazz music nursery, with such notables as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, who performed here, over 60 years ago. More recently, this area has been celebrated as home of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, and many others.
