The Choo Choo Barn start well even before the year 1961, the Choo Choo Barn was actually born in the year 1945 in the basement of the Groff home on the Franklin Street in the Strasburg. At that time the founder George Groff had just returned from the World War II who was looking for a gift for his 2 year old son Gary, he then found a $12.50 train set and helped his son build it, it led to another set of train and just after a few years, they already have a simple set which later on took larger and larger part of their basement. The train set grew and here they are now, the Choo Choo Barn. The Choo Choo Barn in PA officially opened in the year 1950s.
