The York County Heritage Trust which administers the Agricultural and Industrial Museum was established in the year 1895 when a number of interested citizens has formed the Historical Society of York County. The Historical Society of York County or HSYC has began collecting, preserving and interpreting the history and culture of the York County. Their society's initial focus was developing a library in order to serve as the repository for the County's genealogical resource material. The historical society eventually outgrew their space by the year 1938 and moved about 2 blocks east. And in 1959 they relocated again to the Downtown York.
