An open air museum located in Stony Brook, Long Island; The Long Island Museum is best known for its collection of over 200 horse-drawn carriages.  Plus, you'll find over 4,000 paintings, sculptures, and prints--including the works of William Sidney Mount, a renowned genre artist and Stony Brook resident.

The museum also offers a slew of interesting and fun educational programs for children.  Guided tours of the museum are available to groups of 10 or more, via advanced reservations.  As the largest privately supported museum, The Long Island Museum has been accredited by the American Association of Museums for excellence in programs and exhibitions.
