A Great Bronx Borough History Museum
Located in a mid 18th century house, the Bronx History Museum is home to several gallery rooms with displays relating to Bronx history. The old homestead which houses the museum was built by blacksmith Isaac Valentine, and is the Bronx's oldest farmhouse still standing. Visitors can walk on the original floors Valentine built and touch the stones he used to form the walls of the house.
A treasure trove of history, you will be enthralled by the exhibitions on local and borough history that are on display. Exhibitions are rotated bi-annually so there is always something new to see. Take a walk in the garden out back and see the Bronx River Soldier statue which once stood guard over the Bronx River. Open Saturdays and Sundays.
