One of the Best Museums in Upstate New York!
Located in downtown Albany, the Albany Institute of History & Art is one of the oldest standing museums in the U.S. Within the premises, you'll find over 20,000 objects in its permanent collection; including 1,600 paintings, 1,100 drawings, 4,000 prints, 600 sculptures, 500 pieces of furniture, 4,000 pieces of clothing and accessories, 1,200 ceramics, and 5,450 additional historical artifacts.
The library features a collection of more than 1 million items including photographs, manuscripts, architectural drawings, maps, scrapbooks, and 125 periodicals and newsletters. Stop by the museum shop and explore a nice selection of items that reflect the current exhibitions, items from the collections, and the works of local artists.
